Credit Card fraud.

I was recently deployed in support of Operation Enduring freedom, Afghanistan. We returned Dec. 2010. I had several charges on my debit Visa account. Yet, when I reported it to the Bank (and they reported it to the NY State Police) both seem to be looking at me as the bad guy. You see, the CC thieves made numerous purchases on the CC, however, several of the products purchased on my CC were shipped to my billing address. Thus, both the Bank manager and the NYSP Investigator can’t get over the fact I received some of the products. They keep going back to how they never seen nor heard of thieves shipping stolen items to the card holder’s address.

So, I am looking for anyone who has stories where some of the items ordered by the thieves were actually shipped to the card holder’s address. I am meeting the NYSP on Monday to give my sworn statement. I am wondering if they will be reading me my rights first. I mean, just because they have never heard of this type of fraud or use for the stolen credit card info. So, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Your story makes me angry/upset/frustrated. How is there still not a better way of protecting innocent/good people from these horrible people that seem to get away with it more times than not.

  2. There may not be a way to stop them as of now, but there is a way to protect your self from them even in the time where they may get you info. You don’t have to pay for their evil.   3. Credit card fraud is one of the most common forms of identity theft. However, it is one of those which are too difficult to prove. Especially in transactions that do not require the presence of the card or the card holder, identity theft can purchase and transact freely without the victim being aware of it. In that case, it would be best to get an id theft lawyer in order to be guided as you prove the filed case to be viable.
